Going Pro, What should I tell the boss?

I have decided to play poker professionally. I will submit my resignation letter on Monday, June 4th.

I was wondering what I should tell my boss and coworkers. Should I tell the truth and state that I'm going to play poker professionally or make something else up (i.e. such as taking time to travel)? I want to leave on good terms and would like to have the door left open for me if I choose to return. My boss and coworkers know I play poker but not as much or well as I do.

Any good advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Please don't give me advice on whether to go pro or not because I have already decided.

Tell them you need to take time to yourself to decide what you want to do. A white lie kind of but still the truth

pretty much anything but the truth works, why do people always ask this [censored] question. I assume you know how to bend the truth or lie to GET the job in an interview or whatever, not that hard to think up something that will meet your needs.

THERE IS NO NEED TO LIE JUST TELL HIM YOU NEED TO PERSUE OTHER INTREST.IF he asks tell him it personal, or you would perfer not to say.

Why do you need to lie or hide the truth at all?

When I went pro, I told everyone at work the truth and they were really interested, impressed even. It's not the same as leaving for another company (which always causes a little resentment) because they realise that you are going to do something that (seems at least) really interesting, almost like a dream job. My ex-boss says she still uses me in presentations as an example of somebody who followed their dream (LOL).

Have you any reason to think that they would react in a negative way?

Tell him the truth, the job demands too many hours, the pay sucks, the benefits suck, and he sucks as a boss.

That's what you wanna say anyway, so WHY THE HELL ARE YOU ASKING US?

Tell him that you're going to nurse mentally challenged people because you really feel the urge to help the unfortunate people.
