just fyi, usually when you say a side is 'done' that means not only is it all the same color, but all the squares are in the right place. Having a face of all the same color but wrong places is kind of worthless and can be kind of counterproductive.

did the link work?

hmm, given the algorithms i have used i should have only a few more moves, dont think more than 12. the problem is i got this far but it seems somewhere i screwed the corners up on what is now the top layer

yes, i figured out my yellow face has cubes in the wrong space, im not sure how to reconcile this, two cubes are in the wrong space and im not sure how to right that, i used the program but that doesnt really teach me how to do it, just shows me what to do

usually to finish the top layer off the steps are
- get the four corners in the right spot
- get the four corners facing the right way
- get the four middles in the right spot
- get the four middles facing the right way

the key is that the algorithm for each step does not affect anything above it.

which step don't you know how to do?

well i don't have a cube in front of me and i'm going from memory so i might be slightly off.

to trade two corners, hold the cube so that the top is the messed up one, then (capital means clock, lower counter):

have you tried peeling off the color stickers and putting them in the right spots?
