You are so behind on the flop when you shove there.

Very funny how JKratzer posts a hand with AQ in another post and many told him to 4bet. Now he 4bets and people say 'why do that?' AQ plays tough in this spot because if he just calls PF he will most likely c/f an airball flop or c/c if he hits but be forced to c/f the turn unimproved. That is a pricey line. Some may call it spewish even.

As I wrote in his last AQ post, sometimes it is necessary to turn your hand into a bluff EVEN WHEN YOU HIT THE FLOP. This may mean calling the 3bet PF and c/r'ng the flop, obviously shutting down if called.

As for ths hand, seeing as how you did 4bet pre, I see no other way too play it in an attempt to maximize your gaines.

Good job, this is why you can fold AQo oop vs a nit 3 bettor

I'd just drop it pre, vs this guy, his range is pretty strong. OTOH, he might be able to make some big laydowns, if you've been tight.

You have no reason to suspect he's calling the 4bet light, so all of his range either beats you, or is dying to see showdown, and probably doesn't want to put too much money in, and will rarely be weak enough where he'd consider turning his hand into a bluff. It sucks to give free cards on a monotone board, but there just isn't much value to be had here. I'd put in one street of action here, somewhere, and I'd prefer to be the bettor, since he can put me on a bluff easier than I put him on a bluff.

After he bets the flop, I'd be really worried that my hand is no good.

This comment really doesn't apply at all to this hand, or 4bet pots with big cards in general.

AQ is the worst possible hand in the game of poker to make this play preflop against a 16/13 when you have been tight.

I really dislike your flop line and would go ahead and just bet out unless you were planning on check/folding to a bet. I doubt villain's going to get cute and try to make a play in a 4bet pot on an all diamond flop. I think he checks JJ/QQ/KK with a diamond fairly often and has a pretty easy fold on the turn if he misses, you're just giving free cards to the hands you're slightly ahead of and he's probably going to bet with AK/AA the hands you're big dogs to.

you are tight and he's very tight and you're 4-betting AQo? Good luck. And postflop, just shove the flop. C/R is almost as bad as preflop, IMO.

Thanks for the laugh.

I don't agree with the 4-bet, but once you get here, you're [censored] married to this hand. His range is probably JJ+, AK (JJ is debatable.)

I would just bet and get it all in if he pushes.

Against a nit like a 16/13 if you just don't want to fold I would rather call preflop and check/raise alot of flops. Nits are nits but they tend to be married preflop, while if he whiffs the flop he isn't going to be making moves.
