88 and QT are the only 2 that make sense to me. The mini-raise is a standard donk move for a made hand and even passive players aren't raising draws like this. The J on the turn scares him in either scenario so he bets and begs you take the pot away. You don't, he pooooshes for value. Whats so hard about that?

But seriously, this is a obviously a very confusing hand and assigning a range to villian is trivial at best. His bet sizing is just terrible, not intentional. He isn't trying to "price you in" on the flop, he just doesn't know what he's doing.
