Default 25 NL, TPTK, bet 2 streets, villian donks river with 4 to a straight

Villain has not gotten out of line at all. He shows he's thinking (capible of laying down TPTK)

Edit: At the time I wrote this post, I perceived him as being able to lay things down, but I forgot to mention that I have caught him once before bluffing the river before with a medium sized bet

He's 23/18/3

Check behind turn and call a blank river. However, that river is not a blank.

I agree. Your hand is so vulnerable here that keeping the pot small is substantially more important than protecting your hand from draws.

bump for more ppl to see.

I feel that folding getting 5:1 on what could be a bluff or a weak hand might be giving up too much value

A thread came up with similar circumstance yesterday I believe.

Popular conclusion was that there were just as many draws on the board to protect from on the turn as there are on the flop, so why stop protecting?

nh. I like b/f the turn. The river is never a bluff, but could be a blocker so I call, but dont expect to be good much.

This is so close on turn i dont think there is anything awful with a check or a bet. as played id say you are beat here 90% of the time, given how the hand played to that point. you are getting less than 5-1 on your money on this river. so oddswise, given my read, its a fold. but i suppose your read that villain has river bluffed in past is of note, but you said in past he bluffed half pot (much less here).

from villains perspective this would be suchhhhhh a better river to bluff c/r but thats another thread.

continuing with my initial thought. its pretty close all around. my gut tells me we are beat no this river but i probably crying call and see the straight.
