Compare Penny's career stats pre and post all-star break. Look at his season totals for starts and IP. There you will find the answer you seek. OK, [censored] the mysticism. Yeah, you'll want Penny off your roster right around the time the second half starts. He has an injury history, and just seems to fall apart later in the year. Enjoy the ride now, get off the train before it crashes. [/ QUOTE ] yeah, I've seen similar stuff. I think the answer is to wait/hope until 2 of the following pitchers are secure in MLB jobs: Lincecum/Bailey/Westbrook and then trade Penny. hopefully that will happen in the next few weeks/month |

Anyone know who's gonna be getting the saves in Florida now? (Julio traded for Kim yesterday, Owens on DL) Ken [/ QUOTE ] Saves implies winning games, which is a huge stretch at this point, but I would say Taylor Tankersley (although he blew one two days ago). Next guess would be Lee Gardner. |

Anyone know who's gonna be getting the saves in Florida now? (Julio traded for Kim yesterday, Owens on DL) Ken [/ QUOTE ] From the outside, it sure looks like Owens will have the spot when he comes back. He hasn't given up an earned run since April 23rd. And the last report implied that he's fine to come back in 10 more days. Until then, it's anybody's guess. Tankersley is thought to have the best stuff, and before that it was looking like he was the setup man for Owens. So I'd go with Tank for now. After that was Lindstrom, who had been looking good in the boxscores but got hit today. After that is Gardner. The official word is a committee among those three. I would have guessed Tank, but both he and Lindstrom sure got used in a strange way today if either is going to be a closer. Check the boxscore. Still, I think Tankersley is the best guess to get the next save, and that he'll be both closer and lefty specialist for now. Arguments against Tank are he is a lefty, so he may get matched up righty/lefty with Lindstrom. And he got shelled the other day, but in that game he pitched both ends of a rain delay. |

I don't think anyone in FLA is going to grab the job over the next two weeks. Tankersley is your best bet if desperate, but he walks too many people to be successful as a closer. |

What do you guys think of Eric Byrnes(RF,LF,CF) and Troy Glaus (3B,SS) for Marcus Giles(2B), Chris Young (CF Arizona), and Brad Penny (SP)? Its a custom Yahoo league, 8 offensive categories, and 7 pitching categories. I'm pretty concerned that Glaus' foot problem is going to be a chronic problem. Our league has segregates the outfielders we have a LF, CF, and RF, also we have two utility positions.
Roster: Offense Erstad, Kent, Johnny Estrada, Tejada, Glaus, Byrnes, Craig Monroe, J Dye, Griffey, Pierzynski, Renteria, Ichiro, Rolen, Adam Lind (to be dropped probably), Ryan Howard DL Pitchers Lackey, Harang, Wolf, Wang, Derrick Turnbow, Looper, Gagne, Glavine, DL Jason Schmidt, Tom Gordon |

Some idiot dropped Konerko in one of my 12-team 5x5 roto leagues, and he's cleared waivers. I'm lacking in power so far, but who can I really drop to make room for him? I've sent out a bunch of trades trying to sell Matsui or Abreu for SPs or 3B to no avail yet.
Offense: Johima (C), Green (1B/OF), Roberts (2B), Gonzalez (SS), Feliz (3B), A. Jones/Matsui/Ordonez (OF), Lee (UTIL), Abreu (Bench), Howard/Kendrick (DL) Pitching: Schilling, C. Young, Lincecum, Hamels, Capuano, Shields, Accardo, Wickman, Saito, Torres |

I'd dump Green to pick up Konerko. Even if for some reason Konerko doesn't start hitting, you've got Howard. You'll eventually be able to deal some of your excess 1B/OF for help elsewhere.
