Newegg has produced time after time for me for years now.
OP I have a few questions for you and please don't take this as condescending if you are a hardware pro, I just know nothing of you. 1) Were you wearing an anti-static wrist guard or on a anti-static floormat and did you properly ground yourself before handling the memory originally, or for that matter, while you were handling your motherboard and other parts that came in anti-static bags. 2) Did you try the "bad" memory on another motherboard to make sure it wasn't a problem with the motherboard or even the mb's specs. |

OP: I recommand going to www.resellerratings.com and go to the newegg store review and write a bad review about them and state your opinions. They usually give you a free gift certificates, replace everything for free, overnight it, etc., which is very generous of them to do.

OP I have a few questions for you and please don't take this as condescending if you are a hardware pro, I just know nothing of you. [/ QUOTE ] No offense taken but yes, I worked 3 years in a computer repair shop during school, along with being the local "tech guy" that everyone calls for computer issues. Since graduating though I'm a programmer and just do hardware work for people I know. [ QUOTE ] 1) Were you wearing an anti-static wrist guard or on a anti-static floormat and did you properly ground yourself before handling the memory originally, or for that matter, while you were handling your motherboard and other parts that came in anti-static bags. [/ QUOTE ] From the time I took the memory out of the plastic packaging to the time it was inserted into the computer I used a static wristband. [ QUOTE ] 2) Did you try the "bad" memory on another motherboard to make sure it wasn't a problem with the motherboard or even the mb's specs. [/ QUOTE ] No but as I said in the first post, this was a matched pair -- one of the sticks works fine in all 4 motherboard slots while the other one fails in all 4 slots, it's pretty conclusive. Exact same results as my first pair. For what it's worth, this is DDR2-800(6400) and I got a total of 4x 1 gig sticks from newegg -- about 3 months ago was my first order of 2 gigs which worked fine, then this was for an additional 2 gigs, one of which worked fine. |
