Re: Life after college
[ QUOTE ]
just curious: why did you get a master's degree in economics? [/ QUOTE ] I enjoyed it and felt that the technical side of it, ie econometrics and their usefulness in forecasting would be a nice compliment to my undergrad degree in finance. The types of jobs i have been interviewing for are corporate analyst positions that are a nice mix of finance, a little accounting (but not much) and statistics. I felt like a masters in economics would help me get this type of job, but so far no. |

I know the last job i am still in the mix for, but they were concerned about my grades. 2.9 undergrad and 3.2 grad (another reason i continued school). When i nailed the interview, my buddy who worked there commented that they assumed i was an underachiever because of the fact what they saw in the interview didnt match my grades. I dont know if my friend was bs'ing me or what but thats the one inside scoop i have gotten. |

Re: Life after college
not to make you further discouraged, you should've gotten like a 4.0 in graduate school.
now u are probably in limbo...it's not all about numbers, but if you want to get a job, you'll have to network. some ppl are good at that, some are not. but networking will require you to get out of the house. |

Re: Life after college
[ QUOTE ]
I had a huge long semi-emo response typed out, but I deleted it. Basically life after college kinda sucks for a while. I spent the first year+ out of school simply wishing I was back there w/ my buddies. It gets better (I'm almost 8 yrs out now). Either that, or I'm starting to forget how much fun college was. [/ QUOTE ] What he said. Get a job, any job. The actual job part will suck. Lots. But the human interaction is absolutely necessary. Also, whoever said exercise, sleep and eat right is spot on. If it gets worse, see a therapist - in my experience, medication has helped bring me off the bottom in about 6 weeks and then was able to get off it. |

Go to law school. Worked for me. [/ QUOTE ] For some definition of 'worked,' me too. But I'm not sure I'd recommend it unless you actually, like, want to be a lawyer (and as I sit here, dodging partners, I wonder why you would...) |
