Re: 99 overpair vs. TAG pfr

A line I often like to takes with these marginal hands OOP is to check-call flop and lead the turn. Dunno if this is good or if anyone else much does it, but it seems to work quite well for me. [/ QUOTE ] This is the line to treat situations like this. |

Hate the flop donk. I would check raise, as this is exactly how I would play a set as well. If I donked, I would fold to his raise. [/ QUOTE ] wtf is he ever calling you with? |

Re: 99 overpair vs. TAG pfr
If we assume his PFR UTG is 6, c/f this flop, you're playing for set value only against this guy! Even if his PFR is a tad bit higher and you might have a small equity edge on this flop, it's often still best to c/f without knowledge about hit 2nd/3rd barrel frequencies on different turn/river cards.
Board: 2c 7h 4s Dead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 54.035% 53.31% 00.72% 218499 2970.00 { 88+, ATs+, KQs, AKo } Hand 1: 45.965% 45.24% 00.72% 185421 2970.00 { 99 } |

[/ QUOTE ] Assuming he cbets his entire range and is only calling with TT+ it can never be too horrible. You're folding out alot of hands that still have decent equity, but will make it impossible for you to calldown profitably! |

[/ QUOTE ] About the same range he's calling you with in any aggressive line you take - nothing you're ahead of. He's an aggressive nit who raised UTG. You're OOP with a very marginal hand against a nit who raised UTG - just taking it down is a fine result. The reason I take this line rather than something like c/c the flop and donk the turn is for protection, as mentioned. I like to play big hands and weak hands pretty similarly. If you only take the call/donk line with weak hands then it's extremely exploitable. |

Re: 99 overpair vs. TAG pfr
donking this flop with this hand lets you get blown of the best hand very easily. i would check the flop and see what he does. maybe peel one street/c/f the next.
