wouldn't this depend on the universities policies?

it would be nice if students were educated about stuff like this (i certainly do not know my rights) so we didnt consent to searches, etc. out of intimidation when we didn't have to.

WTF, no. I'm not sure if he even needs prob cause to search a dorm room but what are you doing trying to make his job (busting you) easier? Also LOL @ thinking you'd get jail time for pot in your dorm room.

They need probable cause, and they always have it. This is because after the fact, they say they smelled whatever contraband they found. It's a rigged game.
