Default Re: OOT Pole Theater #2, When were you first taught to type

i am 23 and i type with 4 fingers.occasionally i use three of my left hand's fingers, so technically 5.

i was 'taught' about the 'home row' 10-finger method when i was in middle school probably. maybe it was mentioned in grade school.

i think an interesting question is how many people out there actually use the methods they were taught. I've always had the perception that only wieners actually used all their fingers.

i can type as fast as i need to, i guess i never really felt motivated to learn because when i was in middle school i was the faster typer i knew (i am not that fast, probably like 60wpm max) and i only used four fingers.

You have secret convos with E. La Monstre? Or is this another "Dids reveals secrets from the IRC Sun Chamber" thread?

I was never taught to type in public school.

If you're familiar with www.firejoemorgan.com and how they do their thing, Evan and I are considering starting up www.fireelainfromthejobshedoesnthave.com. Adding her blog to my rss has made for a nice morning rolf.

Never had any formal typing training. I still use two fingers to this day and rarely look down at the keyboard.

Grammar school...

On a side note, I like to switch keys on the coworkers here at work who use the 'hunt and peck' method. Fun stuff

High school, and in hindsight, is probably the best thing I learned there.

My dad made me take a typing course in the summer before high school. That was fine by me as there were plenty of hotties in that class. I have taken remedial typing since then in order to improve. Mavis Beacon, baby.

I still use two spaces after sentence ending periods.

Typing was available in my high school, but I never took it. However, being around computers nearly all my life allowed me to learn to bang out a decent WPM without formal training.
