They usually bet jacks if they just hit on the turn, since you might have picked up a draw, and you will often check the turn through for pot control. But of course it's possible.

The problem is that even in the spots where you are ahead here, he's probably got something like 14 outs, and the times you're behind, you're well behind. So unless he has air here frequently I fold.

While I agree with what's been said about this specific instance, doesn't this make betting out here extremely -EV if this were to be figured out by him? Shorthanded against a high vpip high aggression player for this session, what ARE we sticking it in with if not here. It makes it correct for him to raise your turn bet pretty much always, which is going to increase his flop floats, etc. If he's so standard that he'll call when beat and raise when good and that's that, then so be it, but I refuse to believe that that's the case and then there seems to be some bigger issue with this line.

I dont think that's much an of an issue. What you're worried about is his c/c'ing air on the flop, then c/r'ing it on the turn, right? But that's obviously a terrible line for him, because most of the time we will check the turn and then often call the river. So what's he going to do, just stone cold bluff push the river?

he calls a lot of flop bets and fold a lot of the turn, he also plays the flop very passive/tricky so he "comes alive" on later streets, which he doesnt get to as much as you'd think given how often he calls a flop bet. Pokertracker aggro stats can be very misleading.

I agree with Strass his agression goes up on most streets cause he likes to slow play his hands. If he flops a set he checks it a lot. Also I'd fold here cause I dont think he does get that tricky. In this hand he probably has a set or like j4.

I agree with TWP, what about like a4cc? I haven't played with PJ all that much, but I have some hands with him shorthanded with a 60+vpip. I like him on a pair with a turned flush draw. I don't really like his line with a set given his image and your knowledge of it bc against a player like PJ I wouldn't 2 barrel in this spot too much without a hand as he calls pretty thin OOP in my experience with him. I really haven't played with him enough to make this call so I prob fold, but I'm interested to see what happened.

I have a significant amount of HH's from play with pj, I've never seen such different play from session to session(shared account?) The ONLY info I have gained is...as his stack grows he becomes very passive on draw heavy boards. He plays veryvery different according to HIS stack size(not yours)
If he has a big stack use caution when he puts any $ in the middle.(should help when playing pj in future)

dlp, I am confident you are way behind in this spot 90%+ of the time. likes to check big pairs on flop(when preflop raiser) then check raise turn.
