As an aside, this mythical poker room could have some other issues.

It does, but doesn't all rooms including the Bellagio? Nothing is perfect, we have to work within the range we are given however.

The only major issue I'd change at the Bellagio right now is hiring separate board operators for peak times.

I understand why the floor there wants to run the board (tips tips tips), but during the WPT events and the WSOP, it would greatly help their operation go smoothly if they just hired a couple pretty pieces of ass to write names down on the board instead of people having to wait 3+ minutes while the floor running the board is stuck having to make a decision or has run off to get a new player his chips (which I like there, the guys in the suits going to get the chips from the middle limits up).

Well, that and the comp system, but I'm not a poker-room comp whore so it doesn't really bother me personally. If they would give the $15 comp to anyone playing 15/30+ and NL who just asked for it (instead of having to pull teeth for it) I'm sure everyone would be just fine.

I left out my favorite (even though this is mission impossible):

*) Use a rounder table for 30/60 only. Instead of 4 players sitting straight opposite the dealer, there should be a curve, which can be eliptical, so all players can easily see all other players. The table itself should allow extra spacing between players for comfort. The chairs should be distinct and exceptional for their comfort. The 30/60 table should stand out.

[/ QUOTE ]

Have you ever played on one of those tables? They totally suck.

[/ QUOTE ]
Nope. But the current flat edge tables suck too as far as I am concerned. There isn't enough room for big men, and you can't see some of the players if you are sitting on either edge. I have played at round tables in home games - and I like them for comfort and visibility - but I would imagine that dealers can't reach far enough. Why do you think rounder tables suck?

And no comments about the fast pass and lovely ladies ideas?

No comments because they weren't good ideas IMHO, they aren't practical and will not change the playing patterns of consumers. Rounder/round tables generally cannot have more than 7 players (8 if they are squished) or the dealer cant reach across. fine for a home game, but horrible for a casino. They also take up too much realestate, allowing for fewer tables and therefore less revenue.

You remember Mission Impossible?

"Your job Mr. Phelps should you choose to accept it."

If there were ever a case to 'just say No!' This is it.

There are simply too many games at this level for the numbers of players in this town. So what you are really asking is: How do I steal them from the Bellagio.

Sorry I already have a job being a test patient for root canals without anesthesia.

You've got the job haven't you, and you want us all to do your work ...

Anyway, my TotallyStupid(TM) idea.

Multi-tabling. Sort-of.

Everyone multi-tables on-line, at least most people do.
So live, we're going to multi-table with the same people. At the same table.

2 dealers, one each side of the table. 2 decks with different coloured backs (matching the dealers clothes) and 2 sets of chips (different colours - again matching the cards/clothes).

You play 2 games of LHE, at the same time against the same people, but with different dealers running each game. This double the H/hour, doubles the fun for punters, and doubles the $$$ for the casino. Everyones is a winner.

Be the first to introduce this at higher limits to speed things up, and your card-room will become popular very quickly and you'll have a 30/60 running in no time.

Of course rather than being a TotallyStupid(TM) idea it could be a TotallyStupidAndReallyOld(TM) idea. meh.

This would be a good starting point to work out a hands per hour solution.

That is... if there weren't already automatic shufflers at most of the tables shuffling one deck while the dealer is dealing the other.

Next, please?

everyone:

Had a little tough love chat with a manager at the Venetian today, they are now watching this thread. Congratulations 2+2, you have now influenced the marketing and managing decisions of two rooms in Las Vegas with this topic! keep up the good work.
