A few tips for the OP:

- Play at Imperial Palace for at least a few hours. They have a minimum buy-in of $60 (max of $200) on their 1/2 NL game, and anyone with half a brain can destroy that game.

Also, they have free cookies and give $2/hour in comps that you can use on food, too (just make sure you stay the hell away from their buffet; the burger place there is decent).

- Make sure to get the $5 steak at Ellis Island.

- Like others said, Cheapo Vegas and Las Vegas Advisor are definitely sites you want to check out. The Las Vegas Advisor coupon book is a really good value.

- Always make sure you're aware of all comps. Most casinos offer $1/hour, which isn't much but better than nothing. Also, it doesn't hurt to ask for a food comp when you are done playing. From my experience, Luxor and Excalibur will give you a $4 food voucher when you cash out if you ask for it (but you have to ask).

I'm planning on playing the $50 min/max $1/$2 NL game at Luxor (where I'm staying). It will take a damn long time to lose all my gamboooling money in that game.

Be careful in that game. I played there last July and I seem to remember people buying in for $50 and people would be all in for $50 preflop. I lost $100 in 1/2 an hour getting pocket kings snapped off, etc. I hate that game!

The last two times I've gone to Vegas, I only took $500 for a 5 day trip. Both times I've come back with at least 1K profit.

As has been stated earlier, the 1/2 NL games in Vegas are easily beatable if you are patient and wait for good cards.

Main Street Station downtown is a pretty good buffet for $15. My wife and I are pretty cheap on food. We eat two huge meals a day most days.
