check out the Rodin museum...and if you're with a significant other, pack some cheese and wine and bread and have a picnic in the courtyard/gardens, surrounded by the sculptures. Absolutely enchanting.

the garden there is great, but it's kind of a summer time thing. not so enchanting in the cold/wet Paris winter

Catacombs tour is very not touristy. Be prepared to walk for a mile, 200 feet below the surface of Paris surrounded by bones.

Nothing to add to this thread. I just wanted to say that I hate Paris and I think it is one of the most overrated cities EVER. France is pretty worthless as a country as well while we are on the subject. Except Nice. That place was dope.

Hit up Club Rex at night. Fun place to party.

I am looking for things to do in Paris besides the major things that I have to see (Eiffel Tower, Champs Elyssee, Louvre, Versailles etc.) I have done a bit of reasearch, but I know there are 2+2ers who have been before and might have some great ideas! Any help is appreciated!

A name you might not know is the Basilique du Sacre-Couer, on the Montmartre. The basilica itself is gorgeous, and the view of the city from the hill are also something to see.

Also, make sure to get crepes from a street vendor. Same goes for the hot dogs baked into a baguette along with cheese. Seriously, they're good, and a great snack while sightseeing.

When I went to Paris in december, a taxi driver gave me the best advice of my trip; "Just walk until you're lost." Paris isn't about the sightseeing.

My tips for a short stay.

Use and get to know the Metro. You can cover an insane amount of ground zigzagging across the city to get to "the sites" using the Metro. Buy a 3/4 day RER/metro pass at the Airport when you arrive and it's good for all trains/buses and RER including to/from the Airport/downtown. Easily the "best" deal you will find in Paris.

An example of great use of the Metro is that you can come up right next to the Arc de Triomphe, visit it and then stroll down the Champs-Elysees all the way to the Tuileries gardens and just hop back on the Metro and head off to another part of the city.

Get a couple of guide books if only for the suggested walking tours. Getting "lost" in the city is easily the best thing to do, but getting lost in a slightly organized way (ie. heading off in the right direction) makes much more sense. Must do strolls : Latin Quarter/St. Germain des Pres . . the islands (Ille St. Loius, Ille de la Cite) combined with The Marais . . . Montremarte including Sacre Coeur.

Parks: I loved the Luxembourg gardens. easily accessable and very quiet but beautiful. Don't even think about wasting a whole day of your limited time going to versaille. It's one of Paris's must do's . . . but not on such a tight schedule.

bateaux mouche. boat ride on the seine. do it at night. touristy sure . . . but trust me you'll love it.

Don't spend any more than 2 hours in any museum. With that in mind you should be able to hit both the Louvre and Musee D'Orsay (not on the same day). Go early or very late in the day. Plan ahead. Know what you want to see and how to get there. I'd give the Rodin museum a pass if you are short on time.

And on the when in Paris note . . I would totally suggest seeing a show (Moulin Rouge, the Lido etc) if you have the cash for it. Just go for the show itself not the dinner.

Other than that eat (highly suggest the Plat de jour for value), drink (house red everywhere) and soak it all in.

If you're going to see one museum, make it the Musee d'Orsay, not the Louvre.

Agreed. I also like Les Invalides a lot. And if the OP does want to do the relax and walk around bit, I recommend Montmarte.
