It worked so looks like I'm better off for it.

That's being results-oriented.

I understand what you're getting at, but it's still a horribly bad move. The simple reason is you need a tremendous amount of fold equity to push with this hand, and you just don't have it. Your stack is too deep.

Without doing the math, it looks like you'd have to be called less than 3 percent of the time for this to be profitable - and you have four players yet to act so you can forget it. Plus, you're playing at .05/.10.

I also understand "getting some action started", but 100bb isn't advertising money, it's an entire buy-in. Of course you're expecting to get the nuts in three hands and get 3 callers, but it doesn't work that way. You'd need a rediculous winrate to overcome your losses with these moves.

Or, to bust out my new favorite poker quote, "There is no advertising budget".

You lost any EV you might've had by posting.

Another reason I think this is interesting is because it lets people know I'm willing to gamble so I can easily get paid off when I hit a hand ;- ) If they see me going in with king eight when they see me turn over rockets the next time they wont know what hit em ;- )

Observe the table... If it's tight, make a lot of big bluffs on the first couple of playable hands that miss (preflop allin is just dumb). You get to steal some pots and eventually get called. Now you might or might not got some profit from your bluffs but you've certainly got your action. Don't bluff anymore this session. If you lose the action throw in a bluff once in a while again and be aware of your image.

This gets you the same results, except you are not risking $10 to win $0.35

EDIT: Whow, dunno how I ended up here. This is an old one. sry for bringing it up again.

I am thinking you are a "glass half full" kind of person.

How succinctly expressed!

But, you know, it's actually worse than that. If somebody sits down and shoves all-in on his first hand I suspect some people might get a little suspicious and call with something less than QQ. He should wait one hand before shoving all in, after which he will get the negative EV you point out that he so richly deserves.

Bad play.

If you get called on this you can be really screwed if they have good cards. Not advised to use this at all since gains are so little the reward to risk factor is BY Far not worth it.

I have made alot of money off people doing this strategy and trust me, it ain't worth it.
