Re: Casino w/ the Best/Worst Pokerroom Food?
By far the best FREE food was at The Grand in Biloxi. The pokerroom had a hot dog machine like the kind at seven eleven. 24 hours a day they kept that thing stocked and had all the condiments you could think of. Just help yourself.
Not sure if they still have this after Katrina, but it was a simple pleasure that more casino's should follow. |

I'm struggling here to come up with more. Vegas poker rooms just don't believe in free food given away in the poker room. Pretty much you get $1/hr in comps as the standard. [/ QUOTE ] I got free sandwiches at the Wynn around 7am. Don't know if that was standard. |

The Gilpin in Colorado usually has chili, or some kind of chunky soup. Not that great, but it does the trick. They also have something like a hot & spicy Chex Mix kinda thing. Addictive.

Wow you non-california people do not understand what you're missing. You guys are happy with doughnuts and cold sandwiches? At Ocean's 11 I usually get coconut shrimp appetizer, a steak or salmon meal, and a slice of chocolate cake - free + tip.

Yeah. LA def wins this. Otherwise, the new room at Borgata rolled out yummy sandwiches, cookies and appetizers around 7 pm for the top section when they first opened. Dunno if they still do that.

The sandwiches however were worth waiting for if you were sitting at a $3/6 game and thinking about leaving after say 2 AM. I stayed the extra hour more than one time for those darn sandwiches |

Re: Casino w/ the Best/Worst Pokerroom Food?
I've had the table side food service at most Vegas card rooms that offer it (or free sandwiches, cookies, etc.) as well as at Commerce in L.A., and the table side service at Commerce is the best, by far. The menu is enormous, and the food is very good, plus it's free at $20/40 and up.
That said, many of the high end Vegas poker rooms offer free food vouchers or comps that can be used in the cafes. Granted, this isn't table side service, but when we throw those into the mix, my favorite is Venetian's Grand Luxe Cafe. |

It was removed soon after Harrahs-ization. None of the dealers knew why, just that it (and the soda and popcorn machines) were all gone. In tunica, both Grand and Horseshoe have tableside food service, but I don't think it's "official" at either place. At Horseshoe you can get a comp to either the buffet (by far the best in Tunica) or the snack bar. There's no set $/hr rate for poker comps, I believe it is at the floor's discretion (and they are not known for stinginess). Anything from the snackbar can be delivered to your table. The grilled bacon cheese and tomato sandwich is totally awesome. At the Grand, you can get comps for the sports bar, the blues cafe, or the buffet. There's no real delivery service, but most chip runners will go get your order if they aren't super-busy. There is also no official $/hr rate here. The quesadillias from the blues cafe are pretty good and easy to eat at the table. NB: last time I tried to eat at the Grand, they would only comp me, whereas I've never had trouble getting comps for me + the Mrs at Horseshoe. The brush said they were "working on" getting approval to comp for two people. NB2: all of this info is like 6 months old. Things change pretty quickly. |
