So, what exactly, is lamar Smith going to do when banks begin to raise a stink about how burdensome the UIGEA regulations are? [/ QUOTE ] I keep hearing this, but I don't see the "burden". The ACHs dropped Neteller in a day. I'm beginning to think that this is is a bogus overly-optimistic argument, like the "only money in is stopped, you can always get money out" argument that turned out to be pretty bogus. Sorry to hijack. |

If they have access to a credit card they can also get on Ebay and buy whatever they want. Do you hink your average 14 year old would rather play $1/$2 NL or buy an Xbox 360? [/ QUOTE ] And porn. But thats besides the point, children are parents responsiblilty not the government. |

Now that my 2 year old is safe from the evils of Texas Hold'em I only have to shield him from Wild Money and Scream for Cash scratch tickets. I don't think I can myself and I hope the governments help.
An illegal alien at 7-11 and a coin to scratch is all he needs. |

[ QUOTE ]
this is what we are up against. The republicans are sactimonious and should not be voted for in general. [/ QUOTE ] While I get where you're coming from, I tend to disagree with the conclusion. The last batch of Republicans were definitely anti-Internet gambling, but I don't believe they represent the historical roots of the party. I believe the last bunch of Republicans were corrupted by power. They felt they could stay in power by pandering to the religious right while handing out pork to their constituents. Now that they've lost power, there's a chance they'll either return to their roots or they'll be replaced by Republicans who are not beholden to the religious right. In the House vote of H.R. 4411: Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act (harsher than UIGEA), Dems voted 117-76 for, GOP voted 201-17 for. House Republicans who voted against UIGEA: CA-26 Dreier, David [R](moderate, past House Rules Committee chairman) AZ-6 Flake, Jeff [R] [libertarian (small "l"), former Executive Director of the Goldwater Institute] FL-16 Foley, Mark [R] (LOL...gone) NY-13 Fossella, Vito [R] (principled limited-government conservative) NV-2 Gibbons, James [R] (succeeded by Dean Heller) WA-4 Hastings, Doc [R] (seems moderate, past chairman of the House Ethics Committee AZ-8 Kolbe, James [R] (retired) NJ-2 LoBiondo, Frank [R] (moderate) FL-14 Mack, Connie [R] (principled limited-government conservative, son of former Sen. Connie Mack) OH-18 Ney, Robert [R] (LOL....gone) TX-14 Paul, Ronald [R] (Libertarian presidential candidate, 1988) TX-2 Poe, Ted [R] (moderate) CA-11 Pombo, Richard [R] (lost reelection) NV-3 Porter, Jon [R] (our friend in NV) CA-46 Rohrabacher, Dana [R] (principled limited-government conservative) OH-12 Tiberi, Patrick [R] (moderate) AK-0 Young, Donald [R] (moderate) Perhaps now that Republicans won't be getting reamed as badly by party leadership to tow the party line, we may be able to pick off more of them. It seems like we get moderates, libertarians, and principled limited-government conservatives. Hopefully we'll get more than 17 of them next time they decide to vote on our rights. |

[ QUOTE ] Every computer with an Internet connection is a potential casino that provides access to children and invites them to gamble. All that is required to play is a credit card number and time. [/ QUOTE ] Here's an idea, don't give children freakin credit cards, you moran!!! [/ QUOTE ] That's what I don't get. WHY is it that every now and then we all read about people's dogs and pet rocks getting credit cards???? I mean, is there less wrong with that than with my playing cards???? The priorities today - sheez. |

While it wouldn't surprise me that Hillary supports this legislation (she is wrong about everything else), I would like to see a link indicating she specifically supports the internet gambling legislation. |
