Seinfeld has to be the most overrated show ever. It will not age well.

Futurama & Family Guy are for idiots who don't get KOTH or any Simpsons joke beyond "Eat My Shorts

[/ QUOTE ]

the simpsons had a 7yr window where it was very good season3-9, before and after its hitting at like .250

futurama has plenty of subtle jokes, and some awesome characters

family guy is good the first time you see it, and has little replay value

...LOL?

I think all the Futurama hate is really misguided. I've never seen an episode I thought was legitimately disappointing, and I think it's evident Matt Groening saw it as a chance to really expand his creative vision and have the kind of freedom he couldn't in a universe limited to humans and human interaction.

Family Guy had a few seasons that were genuinely clever, but lately I don't even watch it, so yeah, I can see people thinking it's overrated.

I always hated Sex and the City-- it's okay to be a whore if you write about it and you wear designer labels!-- but that's just beating a dead horse.

I don't watch Lost or 24, at all.

Let's pick on shows our own size.

The Sopranos -- I've only seen three episodes, but in all of them nothing happened but a lot of arguing for 45 minutes, followed by a neat & tidy resolution that would make the worst NYPD Blue episode proud. The particular one that sticks in my head was when Tony had to promote someone he didn't much like (Joe Pantoliano?), bellyached to anyone who would listen (including the world's most boring character, the psychiatrist) over what to do about the other guy who was either in the job or deserved it...and then that other guy dies of a Thanksgiving-induced bowel obstruction. Convenient.

Arrested Development -- I've never found the humor of embarrassment funny (never liked George Costanza for the same reason), and that was all this show ever seemed to offer.

WOW! I was moderately offended by all the Lost hate, but this one took me over the edge. Arrested Development is its own brand of humor. It reinforces irony throughout each episode. Little tidbits here and there that are just pounded home. The more you watch, the funnier these little inside jokes become.

The characters, themselves, are completely unique. I would go on more, but the fact that you don't like Costanza makes you hopeless. There was so much more to him than "the loveable loser". My apologies to your wife and kids.

i just can't believe one guy said that futurama is for people who are too dumb to get the smart jokes of "king of the hill" and "the simpsons"

futurama probably has more intelligent humor than any cartoon ever. i'm almost sure that only idiots really dislike the show.
