Re: Live $1/2 hand at Venetian...awkward stacks, OOP
Yah - this sucks. I don't really know the answer to your question. I do know that pocket pairs need like more than 8:1 implied odds to make preflop calls correct - and with this guy calling 40+ preflop to win your remaining 260, I think that preflop you did your implied odds diligence by giving him 6:1 preflop with your aces vs his QTs.
Couple other random/related thoughts: - If you *know* you are beat and drawing mostly dead, there is no such thing as pot odds anymore - it's just burning money. This applies a lot more in live play than online IMO, since you can get a much stronger read. Shutting down this hand, though, would take a very solid read. - If you're only going to bet once in a reraised pot and then clam up and fold if met with any resistance, you're probably going to be exploited as such. Probably not by this guy, but in general. But yah, sucks when someone makes a fishy call pre, nails a monster, and just takes all your money as you sit back and wonder who is really the fish in the sitatuion ;-) |

I thought he was calling with many more hands with a ten in them than those 6 combos...he was reasonably loose preflop and the caller in between made it even looser in my opinion. |

Re: Live $1/2 hand at Venetian...awkward stacks, OOP
even reasonably loose players understand the value of flopping sets and also they love pairs. if he's bad enough to have a hand with a ten then he's bad enough to have a hand with an 8 in it as well.
