Nice trip report. I found this thread when searching Reno poker.

Any info on games spread at the various Reno casinos would be appreciated as it appears I am going to be stuck nearby for 6-8 months starting next week.

Thanks!

Hmmm...

Well, I live in Roswell, GA just north of Atlanta so I can assure you we have drastically different definitions for "poker wasteland".

Any current information about actual games spread would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm going to Reno on Saturday and am hoping someone else will respond to your request for info. I won't go into why I'm going there instead of Vegas, too boring. I was in Reno 2 years ago and played at the Eldorado. At the time I had only been playing for 4 months and assumed I would basically get a poker lesson and lose all my money. Instead I won in 3 sessions and ended the week winner. At the Eldorado, I only played $3/6 and in one of their afternoon tournaments. Went to the Peppermill for a cheapy am tournament. Didn't cash but made money in the $2/4 game, very soft even for a beginner. Since I don't know what level you play at, I don't know if this will be helpful. I got a player's card at the Eldorado and got some comps for time played. At our local casino, poker players don't get anything so I think any comps are good. There was one night pretty late when the table got 4 handed. They lowered the rake so we kept playing. Even after 4 months I knew to change my play when shorthanded but 2 others didn't. It was a good night and when the table filled again, I quit with a nice profit for the night. One thing I didn't like is that they allow smoking after 2 am and I'm very allergic but the game was too good to leave. So obviously I have my priorities in order. Best part about the trip - someone saw that I was very keen to learn the game and gave me the 2+2 website. I still owe her.
