failed in first attempt out of law school to start own firm. 6 months later friend brings me business idea and start new firm may of 2003 with $50k equity loan in spare bedroom of apartment.

just broke monthly revenue record in january to tune of $615,000 and now have 25 employees. so busto to robusto in 3.5 years.

yes the money is finally worth the 6 and 7 day weeks the past three years, but i can honestly say i have never experienced this much stress in my entire life. i used to dream about owning my own business, but being in my early thirties i never thought i would have this much responsibility or worry about this much crap.

yes i know complaining about it is very douche, just saying that accomplishment doesn't always equal happiness. the only thing that keeps me going now is that i hope i can squirrel enough away to retire and get out of the busniess as quickly as possible because this pace is sending me to an early grave and most of the time is the very opposite of fun.

this thread is a great read. awesome to see what everyone has done, and what they value from their past. you guys are awesome.

I guess mine would have to be raising 3 kids, starting with a surprise at age 20 as a broke musician, and making it here with everyone relatively intact.

Playing an opening role on a summer concert tour with Neil Young, Morphine, Primus, and Ben Folds Five, would also have to be up there.

for me its probably completing my service in the Army honorably and then reaching my goal of getting a job with a big 4 accounting firm when I finished school.

I didn't know you were in the Army [censored]. Makes me understand a lot of stuff about how you work. (That could sound like a dig but it isnt at all so don't take it that way).

My biggest accomplishment could be this email exchange:

wow I just see this email now from a certain Aaron Winslow to the
umass antiwar group. Let me warn you about this person. Do not trust
him he is not good. He is probably a undercover spy for Republicans
or some other unreasonable group because he is very unreasonable
himself. He failed me from FRESHMEN ENGLISH WRITING despite the fact
that i did all the major assignments and came to most classes. WOW
THANKS A LOT AARON, umass antiwar coalition, your next move is crystal
clear, do not allow him to join and corrupt the group.

goodluck dealing with this menance

RESPONSE FROM A MEMBER OF THE GROUP I KNOW, CHINESE TEACHER

This is so hilarious, I can only assume it is intended as a joke. It was
especially clever of Danny to include so many grammatical and spelling
errors in his complaint about having failed Freshmen English Writing.
But seriously, we should strive to keep this kind of thing off of the
list. It's unnecessary, distracting, and potentially hurtful.

Sigrid

OTHER RANDOM EMAIL

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick note to say that comments on the character of AWC members are not
appropriate for this list. Everyone in the AWC is working for positive social
change, and working hard at it too. Aaron is an excellent guy and an
excellent organizer. Let's try to keep this list positive and on subject!

Peace,

Jordana

TWO RESPONSES FROM A GIRL I HAD A CRUSH ON, A GRAD STUDENT AND SEMI LEADER OF GROUP

Hi Danny,
I'm writing as the list moderator. Your email is completely uncalled
for. Please abstain from sending emails with personal attacks.
Sofia

SECOND EMAIL WRITTEN PERSONALLY TO ME

I agree with Jordana. Please abstain from such emails. Aaron has
probably been working harder than anyone else in the coalition. And
even if he wasn't that still doesn't warrant the email that was sent
out about him.

We came to an understanding a while ago that if something like this
happens, a warning will be sent by the moderator, and if it happens
again, the privilege to send emails to the list will be revoked.

Sofia

MY UNANSWERED RESPONSE TO SOFIA

Completely uncalled for? Didn't you read my email, he failed me for
his class that means I need to take FRESHMEN ENGLISH WRITING for a 3rd
time. Come on seriously, who is the one that should be banned from
the email list?

danny

800 Verbal SAT is the only thing I can think of (740 on the math, so... meh, but I did only take it once and I just blame it on variance)

Winning the 2002 NCAA Team Title in tennis at USC. Being Captain and singles and doubles All-American was just icing on the cake.
