Ok, here is another way to think about it. You are playing online in a typical $3/6 NL full ring game. You are given a program that will let you select among some choices of rigged hole cards and flops in advance of the deal. The program gives you the following choices:
Set A: a)hand:8c8d, flop:Qh8s4c b)hand:Tc8c, flop:Jc9h7d c)hand:Tc8c, flop:8d8h8s Which do you choose, and why? Now Set B: What if the choices were: a)hand:Tc8d, flop:Th8s4d b)hand:Tc8c, flop:Jc6c4c c)hand:Tc8c, flop:Jc9c4s |

[ QUOTE ]
He is talking about flops, so you think there is a difference in payoff if you flop a straight on a 567 or a 657 board or what? [/ QUOTE ] Precisely. You'll, on average, get paid off more easily on the 657 board. But it won't be uniform as to how much. On Tuesday morning that effect will be almost nil. On Friday night, it may well matter quite a bit |

As I was writing that last post, to amuse myself (and because I can't get any money into my PS acct, arggg...) I was playing in an online PS freeroll (wild crazy play, a lot of all-ins). Hand was QQ, blinds 15/30, ep raiser, 4 callers, I raise to 420(stack=4300) 1 caller. Flop 324. I bet, am raised, I reraise all in, called, opponent turns over 65. I'm drawing as close to dead as possible. Tourney over - 5064th out of 10,000. So I'm pretty clear on the ordering of those two hands - big overpair vs flopped straight...
