costa rica IMO - you have drinking, black sand beaches.....inexpensive to fly, and you won't waste time on a plane (bali is freakin far)

I've only been to Bali, but I had a great time while I was there and I'd love to go back. You can lie on the beach all day, then go drink at night. If you surf there are some good spots on the island, and even if you don't you can still body surf in the waves.

If you're looking for 5 star accommodation it's there, but you'll have to pay for it. There are many cheap places that are perfectly fine though.

One downside that I noticed, and this might have been because I was there shortly after the bombing so tourism was still down, was that it was difficult to just sit on the beach. People were constantly walking up to me trying to sell paintings, tattoos, drinks and other things. But it's not that big of deal. Just say, "No thanks" and they go on their way. Oh yeah, everyone speaks at least passable English there because they're so dependent on the tourist dollars.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'm afraid I won't be able to answer much about specific names of places to stay or go though because I was there 3 years ago.

Most beautiful beaches on the planet IMO. (I have been to a lot of them) There are no real clubs though I don't think, just quite a few bar/hangouts. Really chill. (Drinking age is 18+)
