Can we change title to "Chargers to follow up great regular season with early playoff exit for another year"?

Good news. I don't care what the sheep think.

Post Elway he is 5-6.

Damn.

You win.

that's funny, i don't remember saying "look up denver's record against marty and feel free to use whatever constraints it takes to make your argument look better" but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. and even with the stipulation of post-elway, they still have a winning record against marty, proving my point for me anyways.

better luck next time, champ.

Shanahan's win % against the Schottenheimer last 5 years : 54%

Shanahan's win % against the rest of the NFL : 65%

Clearly Shanny wishes they faced the Chargers every game.

Did anyone acutally think a team that went 14-2 and whose GM despises his coach was going to fire it's coach for mistakes players made in the playoffs?

Nice bump!

Sucks for Marty, though. Missing out on all those openings that were filled. Could Smith really hate him enough to have done this on purpose?

Yes, he would, but it screws them getting a good coach, so he didn't.

On a related note, the Chargers are desperate now that all of the good coaches are gone and I think I've got a shot at it! You think they'd mind if I commute every day from the Midwest?

There are openings every year. I don't think Marty would mind a whole heckuva lot being paid $3.5 million by the Chargers next year to play golf, then get a job for the '08 season.

I want to kick everyone who says there aren't any good coaches left in the balls.
