Poker itself hasn't, but 2+2 certainly has.

My current roommate and I met basically because we played poker, so poker has had a positive effect there socially.

That is the saddest most pathetic thing I have ever heard. I mean seriously, you blame a forum for ruining your life? What kind of loser are you?

I have not had a job for about a year and half now. Not working 40 hours a week or working while at school is [censored] sweet. Although poker indirectly led to the end of a nice long term relationship. Oh well, I have a lot of money now and I still never choose poker over friends.

I refuse to let poker interfere with my social life, but I will say that it has changed my home life. I used to do more things around the house, normal things, but now I pretty much just lock myself away in my room playing poker for a few hours whenever I'm home.

Just remember that you are playing poker to make money, or at least most people are, and that money is probably going to be used for entertainment... which = social life. So prioritize all social events above any poker related events.

Yes it has.

I'm a 44 yo divorced guy and in the year+ that I have been on "sabbattical" from a regular 9-5 I have had a hard time convincing women that I am not a degenerate gambler and a bum.

They may though have a point.

Not in any super serious way - if it did, I'm pretty sure I could just leave. I do notice things like I procrastinate by reading 2+2 instead of doing schoolwork. Also the fact that it takes up several hours probably everyday, and I must have been doing other things before I came across this place.
