Default Has Poker Hurt your Social Life?

I'm realizing poker has messed up my social life. I still go out and do all the big fun things with friends, but whenever its something that sounds kinda boring I'll stay home and play poker instead. My friends are starting to talk and get annoyed that I don't want to hang out with them as much. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I wouldn't say ruin but changed. I mean you prefer to play poker than do something boring. That isn't ruining, its changing. For me i used to play guitar alot. Now i play poker.

I do this too. Usually when it sounds boring it IS boring. When I stay in to play poker I find out that my friends sat around chatting for 5 hours or something like that. That is fun and all, but I could be making bank or playing video games instead of dicking around.

Yes, it has, but I can't think of any activity that's more rewarding than lying, tricking and deceiving other people so that I can take their hard-earned money against their will and make it my own.

So in that sense, it has hurt my "social life" but it's a trade that I'm more than willing to make. I find Poker more fulfilling than most any other activity short of banging hot strippers.

The activities of my life have always been dictated by whatever stimulates the nucleus accumbens.

Be glad you actually like playing and don't have to force yourself to do it.

I started playing poker because I was bored and had nothing to do.

Now, this is no longer true.

I wouldn't attribute it to poker, but my social life has improved since picking it up as a hobby.
