thanks guys, would it ever be right to call with KQo in an unraised pot? [/ QUOTE ] I have been calling KQo lately UTG when a raise does absolutely nothing at a table, in terms of thinning the field. Something like KQs is an equity raise from any position. |

Raise preflop. Given that you didn't, fold the flop. Good turn raise, boring (but solid) river bet.

Raise preflop.
Just an FYI, maybe you should read "Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players" the first few sections cover the play of the first two cards. It also includes the hand ranking table. I found it most helpful. |

Raise preflop
Fold flop turn raise is great river value bet is good. Your question seems focused on preflop. KQo is a decent starting hand, if you are going to come in raise with it. The hand might be the strongest at the table. If you are coming into a pot you need to be raising. The only time you should limp in is if you have a hand that you want to see a cheap flop and win a monster pot with. ie. PP's and SC's. IF you are playing a hand for its advantage, like high card hands, then raise the pot up. Now if the UTG raised, muck your KQo, it is not as profitable in this situation. You should not be calling in MP with hands that are valuable for thier high card stregnth. A calling hand might be like K8s, because you lack the same high card stregnth. |
