*grunch*

why no turn bet? as played you MUST call the river. Since you didn't bet the turn, they aren't putting you on as strong a hand as you have; therefore, when they bet the river, their range is signifigantly larger than if you didn't bet the turn.

You're either ahead, in which case you need to bet because a bazillion worse hands are going to call, or you're behind, in which case you need to fold because you don't have nearly the odds to draw to a 2-outer.

or there's the "I'm out of position, I don't really know where I'm at. If I'm going to call, I'd rather get the bet in 3-way."

The guy sticking around with a dry ace (I assume that's what the muck was), really screwed up my reads. I couldn't think of many hands going to the river that I could beat. That's why I folded.

Between the bet and the call, one of them had to have the flush, straight or full in my mind.

I hope my thinking isn't too far off here.

I just don't want to be one of those people who limp from any position with their pocket pairs, go to SD no matter what, and get all pissed when they lose.

Someone who plays B&M in LA, or in similar games, please help straighten me out here.

"Dealer. We need a new setup."

One night last week, after a couple hours at 3/6, I was thirsty and ordered a bottled water and a black coffee from the porter. In the next hour or so, I played three hands and was up about a rack. The guy next to me, who played about 80% of his hands called the porter over and ordered a bottled water and a black coffee. When I got up, with $245 in profit, the guy took my seat.

Point is, these guys play lots of hands, and try to hit flops, and if they don't, they chase chase chase and chalk it up to luck when they lose. When they lose with busted flush draws, they fold by slamming the cards on the table and whining "dealer, all I needed was a heart." People typically don't call river bets with ace high.

I'll keep reading and posting here for now, because my river play is way too weak. I have made some nice thin value bets against the right players and gotten called lately though.
