Default JJ river

3/6 live in Los Angeles, so that means pretty passive overall, but the guys can get tricky when the pot starts getting big.

J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG+1

UTG folds, hero raises, MP calls, button calls, BB calls

flop is 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

BB checks, hero bets, MP folds, button calls, BB calls

turn is 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

BB checks, hero checks, button bets, BB calls, hero calls

river is 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

BB checks, hero checks, button bets, BB calls, hero ...

I really think this turn is a bet/fold, as played I would fold this river..

I know its gross and weak but you on this board you are only beating a bluff and an A7 type hand.. And I think with BB calling here, you are ok to fold.

I think preflop and flop are good.

I think you should have bet the turn and probably folded to a raise.

As played, and without further reads, I think the river is a check and I think a fold is better than an overcall.

I don't get the turn check at all...

River looks close to me... and I tend to call in those situations. Especially if you are the type who will get upset when they turn over K7 and AQ.

I was shocked, but I just wanted confirmation that I'm not insane.

I feel I did misplay the hand though. I forgot my method for LHE, I guess. "When you have a strong hand, just bet, don't think, until someone plays back at you."

You've so massively underrepresented your hand that worse hands can valuebet, once you get to the river you have to call.

Given my standard caveat that I don't know B&M play, you cannot check/call this turn in a 3-way pot. You're either ahead, in which case you need to bet because a bazillion worse hands are going to call, or you're behind, in which case you need to fold because you don't have nearly the odds to draw to a 2-outer.

Since you check/called the turn (which is only slightly better than jumping up, throwing your cards in the air, and running around the table screaming "red rum, red rum"), you really can't fold on the river closing the action in an 11 BB pot.

Stuff you beat:

button: TT/99/"I have the button so I bet"/"I think you have AK"
SB: Any pair or Ace-high or maybe even Kx [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

As played folding the river is a mistake imo, but bet/fold the turn instead of playing it this way
