Re: Results and such
I don't get why you guys are saying that the game is bad as a result of often not having odds to draw. This is good for you. If you realize that you don't have odds to draw then just let the hands go. The game is very profitable because your opponents will often be drawing against you without odds. if five people limp into the pot ($10) and you hit a stong hand you can kill your opponents odds to draw by max betting for the size of the pot. therefore the next person to call will be getting 2 to 1 where as in a 2/4 game you could only bet $2 into the $10 pot giving them 6 to 1. with that example it is clear that the structure of this game makes a bad player's post flop mistakes larger in limped pots.
Now if you max raise preflop and get called (as you almost always will in these games) your opponent's preflop mistake is made larger because the blinds are so small compared to betting on later streets. It is wrong for them to loosely call big raises preflop when folding in the blinds is not expensive. I personally think these games are gold mines for TAG play considering that the betting structure favors the way a TAG plays reverse implied odds hands preflop and the way we want to play drawing hands pre/post flop. Throw in the fact that most split limit players have the IQ of a chimp with down's and you have the recipe for almost free money. okay bye bye now. |

Re: Results and such
Spread limit is awesome for sharks (in the short term at least) and horrible for casinos that have any fear of the game breaking. The best players just win the money too fast, with too little variance.

Re: Results and such
we used to play 5/60 quite a bit and the 2/10 players would "take their shots" and fail miserably and the result was us not being able to play 5/60 anymore. those of us that beat the game soundly stuck around but there were also the players that just fed on the fish and new they were outmatched. you'd need a pretty big player pool to constantly spread a game like that and mille lacs def. does not have that.

Re: A3s River decision 2-10 spread live game
[ QUOTE ]
I see the dastardly $2/$10 game has spread to Mille Lacs as well. Do they still spread any fixed limit games there? Or any good spread limit games that actually have a little bit of wiggle-room with bet size (a good $1-$60 game would be nice, as $60 is the maximum allowed bet in Minnesota). [/ QUOTE ] Spread limit does seem like a midwest preference. Ten or 15 years ago stud/8 was popular in Iowa and the Dakotas and it was often played 2/10 spread limit. The odd thing now is that most games in Minnesota are spread limit, but Canterbury is all fixed limit, go figure. Mille Lacs is just too remote to get many tables going. Hinckley is on the freeway, plus they have a large number of hotel rooms, so they get more going on Saturday nights. TI is close the southeastern metro area, so they get fairly busy on Friday and Saturday nights. The 2/10 game is the most popular, but you will also see 4/20 and 5/30 games on weekends. Hinckley used to have a 5/60 game, don't know if it still goes. The problem with the spread limit popularity is that you never see a fixed limit game higher than 3/6. good luck |

I don't see why you would do anything other than call.
