Re: Where should I go?
I go to school in Boston (BU) and though I can say I have absolutely loved it, unless you know that the cold isn't going to bother you, I wouldn't consider BC. Though the campus is great and very beautiful in fall and spring, I know from experience that the long climb up and down the hill it is built on is not much fun in the snow, even with the stairs. That being said, their athletics are second to none in the northeast and if you're a hockey fan too, then there is no better choice.

Re: Where should I go?
i really appreciate all the advice.. thanks... wake is def a consideration... im going to apply to a bunch, make some visits and then ill make a decision... if anyone can mention the junior housing situations for some of their schools that would be great too... i think a "tough" transition would be getting acquainted to new school and classmates to hang out with... most kids were there 2 years already so they have their group of friends, but i think i'll be fine b/c im a very outgoing and social

Re: Where should I go?
not sure why you would ever pay +30k for Boston U, in which you can just pay the same at BC, with BC being a more esteemed institution. If you're still interested in boston, try applying to Tufts. It is competitive, but not impossible like Harvard and MIT.

Re: Where should I go?
good luck in your apps
just make sure that you set your priorities straight. do you want a great sports scene or reputation/name? Maybe you want a great social scene above all....i am not sure. it is hard to find the best of both worlds unless we go into ivy's. if you want something thats still good but maybe not as competitive as the ivy's, except for cornell, perhaps you can try CMU, U Mich, Tufts, USC. basically all schools ranked 20-30 on usnews.com The liberal arts school, amherst, williams and the rest in the top 10, are bad at all, but again, the sports scene is probably not as big as you would want it to be and most of them are outside the city. personally, i go to tufts, so i would be happy to answer any questions you might have. |

Re: Where should I go?
I'd strongly advise avoiding UF. I go to this school and I detest the environment. UF is jam packed with obtuse meatheads, brutish rednecks, and many other people I stare at and say: "How the hell are we both here?"
In addition, the quality of education is far from stellar. |

Re: Where should I go?
How long were you at your first school? What school was it - what were your grades? High school marks/GPA? Some of these are difficult to get into. Good luck mr nov.

Re: Where should I go?
I was there for one year mainly to play baseball no other reason. Small school in NJ and my grades were around the 3.5 range. High school GPA 3.6 Top 20% of my class. I transfered to my local cc and was playing baseball, but I stopped to focus on academics. I should end up with a minimum GPA of 3.6. I think there are plenty of schools that could fit my wants/needs. Some that are listed as top 50 Undergrad business schools. I want the sports scene, because that is my life. I know more about sports then anything else. Sports bring a great atmosphere to a school. I went to some Rutgers parties after the football games and it was amazing. People I knew there that were never interested in sports, go into sports just because of the football team. I want to be a part of that, as well as graduating from a school that people respect and know is a quality institution. Looking for a good academic school, good social life which sports are definately involved with.... basically a place to enjoy myself for my last two years of undergrad.

Re: Where should I go?
I go to USC and can answer any questions you might have about it. Football is definitly awesome...
I dont know how hard it is to transfer into though, I know its getting much more competitive. I have heard of people getting denied with 3.9's out of high school. |
