[ QUOTE ] And yet in the biggest short yardage situation of his career, Bettis got stuffed twice. [/ QUOTE ] This reminds me. I've been meaning to ask you what your opinion is of Bettis when he was in his prime. [/ QUOTE ] In his prime he was pretty good. He was never really a holmes, faulk, sanders type guy with regards to dominance. four pretty good years and a lot of average years. there's tons of value in that because it's so hard to come by. if you want to become a durable back in the nfl, you study jerome, emmitt, and curtis. |

[ QUOTE ]
When has Curtis Martin been considered the best RB in the game any year of his career--zero times. Bettis as well is zero. I believe that should be a HoF requirement. (Ironically, I've defended Martin in arguments of how good he is...) [/ QUOTE ] Super-retarded. |

fwiw, curtis martin was the best rb in the game two years ago. bettis seems like he could've been the best his rookie year, he was beastly.

For all you Jerome Bettis Haters, you might want to look up who has gained more yards than all but 4 people in NFL history.

[/ QUOTE ] I don't know if you can equate a rushing title with best in the game. I was just pointing out the super-retardednesss of this best that year criteria. |

The issue of whether having great career stats makes up for not having any dominant seasons is kind of whats being discussed here. Also, thinking someone is a borderline HOF does not qualify one as a hater. |
