In his prime he was pretty good. He was never really a holmes, faulk, sanders type guy with regards to dominance. four pretty good years and a lot of average years. there's tons of value in that because it's so hard to come by. if you want to become a durable back in the nfl, you study jerome, emmitt, and curtis.

fwiw, curtis martin was the best rb in the game two years ago. bettis seems like he could've been the best his rookie year, he was beastly.

The issue of whether having great career stats makes up for not having any dominant seasons is kind of whats being discussed here. Also, thinking someone is a borderline HOF does not qualify one as a hater.
