Bettis is more deserving of the HOF and it's not remotely close IMO. Davis' career was just too short.

In my mind its very close. And its the same thing with Curtis Martin. In my mind, niether of these guys were amazing running backs. Both were very good and effective. Terrell Davis, for four years was AMAZING.
With better medicine/longer seasons, theres gonna be a bunch of running backs that pass up the great all time backs in total rush yards, but should they all get into the hall. Bettis never played at nearly as high of a level as Brown, Sanders, Peyton, or Simpson. Terrell Davis was much closer to playing at that level than Bettis was and it wasn't even close. |

I'm not saying TD wasn't amazing for 3 or 4 years. I just think longevity is a really big factor in what makes a player historically "great" and thus worthy of the HOF.

It's PAyton.
And...so what about Davis? Not HOF-worthy. |

Am I nuts or is the first question super-retarded?

If Bettis was on those Broncos teams for those 4 years his numbers would be ridiculous.(Curtis as well.)

Both Davis and Bettis had four season where they averaged over 4 yards per carry. In those seasons Davis had way more yards and touch downs. Basically your saying Bettis is more worthy because he has ten additional years of being average. I disagree. |

Longevity goes a long way. 10 years from now, who will be more famous? Bus or Terrel Davis? Plus, does Bettis' attitude not help at all?? Jeesh. Are you really busting this guy's chops for being HOF-bound??? I thought he was HOF-worthy BEFORE this season... |

I can't figure out how Bettis is an automatic Hof--just cause of the ring now? (that he didn't really contribute to).
Curtis Martin has better stats all around where does everyone regard him in this matter? I think both had great careers but I don't think either belong in the hall. Both really didn't make a lot of probowls either... As for Davis, I'd lean toward no here as well just not quite long enough of a career/dominance in it for me. |
