Re: recommend a car audio sub/box combo for under $100 that doesn\'t su
www.realcaraudio.com is a good start. Its one I used. Most of the mods are excellent. Some compete and are v v good. Others aren't.
The most important issue with a ported box is tuning. Blinden, You never responded to that. What rattles first? Your fender or your door lock? |

To suggest not using sound deading is goofy, to say it's worthless is insane. I'm not going to argrue with you, you clearly just don't understand. |

In that case, you really only need to get the internal volume correct. Also, note that different woofers are designed to be more efficient in different boxes. Refer to various software out there to help you build (bass box pro, etc) |

You can find Shiva's for $99 right now. I bought one for my apartment and then threw it in my car when I moved and it sounds excellent in a mid-large sealed box. Great sub for a 1st time buyer.

Re: recommend a car audio sub/box combo for under $100 that doesn\'t su
z28 is right on.
Let me give an example of why I don't recommend sound deadening for an average set-up. Sound deadening will kill rattles and help eliminate road noise. I will break down my position on each issue for ease. 1) Rattles - Sound deadening is usually applied to body panels. Typically these don't resonate and cause sound. Think about this logically or find out by listening to several cars with boom boom in them. Which rattles more... The crap in your door or your actual door? Also this typically occurs at volumes right in between casual listening and blowing the doors off your car. 2) Killing Road Noize - This is excellent. For high level set-ups tweaked for SQ there is no substitute. But lets look at where road noise comes from... Your tires and the road. So this would typically imply putting Dynamat on your entire floor pan. Can you rip out seats and carpet to put it down? Yeah me either. When doing a total rebuild its retardo not to put it down. It seems the most optimal use of Dynamat (which is expensive, even in the "off brands" (some of which are better than Dynamat)). Is the most expensive. Putting just a little bit down around your speakers isn't really going to make a world of difference unless something is very wrong already (the whole assembly is loose and rattles) and wouldn't likely be the correct fit. Blinden, I noticed you are evading the discussion again. Do you even know what you are talking about? |
