[ QUOTE ]
anyone who goes to Singapore is a moron. Everyone knows their tough stance and their no leniency policy. To get caught bringing drugs into Singapore is death. Period. While I feel for the offender and his family, I have to applaud Singapore for taking a stand in something they believe, and following through on their MANY warnings. [/ QUOTE ] FYP. They are crazy. They have to review every DVD you bring into the country to make sure there is no pornography, and other gustapo tactics. |

It's not ridiculous at all. There's warnings all over the Singapore airport. He chose to ignore them and take the risk and he got busted. Too bad for him.
What's ridiculous is the reaction and support that he totally does not deserve. I agree with this: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au...5E7583,00.html |

This isn't Star Trek Sooga. This is real life. Wanton killing, for what can at worst be described as a moral peccadillo, is not right.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] When in Rome, do as the Romans do... if you're in a place where there is a death penalty for carrying even 'minor' amounts of drugs, then it's real simple - DON'T CARRY DRUGS IN THAT PLACE. I'm sick of people that whine and complain about how severe other countries' punishments are. This isn't a case about some guy getting framed or railroaded into a death penalty. This guy had an amount of drugs worthy of a death penalty on his person, he got caught, and now he will be put to death. I don't see how there is any room for any sort of argument. [/ QUOTE ] Why not just make death the penalty for every crime? [/ QUOTE ] Ok, why not? Countries have the right to punish however they feel fit. Also, I'm not saying I agree with Singapore's penalties. I think it is a bit harsh for this guy to be put to death. But who am I to say another country's penalties are too harsh? I don't live there, I have no say in the matter. If death is what Singapore feels is the appropriate punishment for this drug offense, then so be it. [/ QUOTE ] When cultural relativism goes wrong... |

[ QUOTE ]
Where's that one hot chick convicted of drug trafficking being held, it's Thailand or Singapore I think. [/ QUOTE ] It was Bali, her name is Corby, and yeah she is awfully hot. Just think, she could be getting her brains [censored] out right now but instead she'll sit in a tiny cage for the next 15 years. |

There's no value placed on an individual's inalienable rights. All value is put on the harmony of society and maintaining that. |

All,
I don't really have a problem with drug traffickers being put to death, given a reasonable definition of "trafficker." Justice, El Diablo |

The laws are really, really clear. If you get executed in Singapore, you're basically getting executed for stupidity.
