And in the grand scheme of things 14 ounces is nothing. Wow! That is messed up.

If this isn't proof that the death penalty doesn't have a deterrent effect, I don't know what is.

That I don't know. I know nothing about heroin other than what I have seen in trainspotting.

I suspect 14 ounces is quite a few doses.

The article seems to indicate that he was not fooled into transporting the stuff. His lawyers say, "He is completely rehabilitated, completely reformed, completely focused on doing what is good..." Sounds like he was admittedly guilty.

So the only question then is whether transporting a large number of doses of the drug should be a capital offense.

Well, is 14 ounces what someone sells or what someone uses for their personal use. I would assume it is what they sell. How many grams are in an ounce?
