[ QUOTE ]
I don't mind a small block bet on the river if you think he never bluff raises you (a good assumption at this level). [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I think I'd block here too. Something a little under half pot? |

Re: 100 NL what does my opponent have?
Who bets the turn? I think call river, as the hand is played people will bet that river with a ton of hands.

Re: 100 NL what does my opponent have?
Instacall...
1. After showing weakness on two streets, some one holding a Q would fire a smaller bet 9 out of 10 times to induce a call...same applies for a set of 8's and quad 4's...I think an A4s hand would play it like villian did here though, but you won't be seeing that that often 2. You have 2-1 odds and your stack isn't big enough to worry about this... 3. You are ahead here way more than 1 time in 3... I think you see KK, AK & JJ and other stuff you beat 70% of the time here, and that's good enough for me. Your hand is face up, and this type of villian (if he is a winning lag) will be 2nd leveling you here a lot, do you see why he should be betting smaller with the nuts? I read his turn pause as your line looks like AQ to him too, but now he thinks it's unlikely you have it and is thinking about a bluff but scared you may crai, nice river check, now double up! |

Re: 100 NL what does my opponent have?
This is a tough spot I think you could have made easier by betting the turn. Also, have you seen this villian make any big moves at pots on the river before. IMO, there are not a lot of 100NL people who make pot sized river bluffs.

Re: 100 NL what does my opponent have?
You need to know how this player thinks. My standard action is calling; you have shown weakness and his bet is big. But if he knows you will interpret it this way, he could make the bet with a full house or quads.

Re: 100 NL what does my opponent have?
Tough.
I think villan has Qx with weaker kicker or quad Queens and your toast. KK/JJ possible but less likely too. If he had KQs/AQ (or QJs at a push) but put you on AQ then checked behind turn. On the river when the board double pairs he knows he's splititng @ worst holding a queen. That massive almost AI bet could be a bluff(JJ) but I doubt it - rarely see PSB river bluffs of this size vs. ok players. KK is also possible given turn action -but river bet looks too big, he knows you don't have a queen so can bet bigger than he would had you led into him on river. Saying that I don't know whether I would c/c small bet or block river like others suggested. |

Re: 100 NL what does my opponent have?
i fing ppl like to check behind on the turn with trips a lot...to induce bluff on the river...i fold, but time out in doing so, and don't like it one bit.

Re: 100 NL what does my opponent have?
I'd prefer a blocking bet on the river, it will much better define his hand if raised and if called, you win almost every time (unless he has a 4).

Re: 100 NL what does my opponent have?
this is an instacall esp vs a thinking player. His range is 1010+, AQ+ and youre ahead of that especially with the odds he gives you.
