I think the public DOES know that, but they're on OSU anyway because:

(1) 7.5 is a lot.
(2) UNC already lost a game and so people are suspicious they're not that good.

I think people are overplaying the hc advantage at the dean dome. It's basiaclly like playing in an empty warehouse. having said that,

This is a totally statement to make when UNC is playing the #1 team in the country. [or any top 5 team] Loudest arena I've ever been in was Duke @ UNC.

It was damn loud in there tonite. Ask anyone.

Against Elon, you'd have a point.

UNC covered. Didnt take the bet, like I said, I usually wait until the conference schedule. But it was an interesting line and warrented discussion. Thanks all.

Could you please list what other arenas you've been in? I've never heard of anyone who's been to both the Dean Dome and a facility known for it's atmosphere (Cameron, Allen) and called the Dean Dome anything other than stone quiet.

Palestra, MSG, GBoro - ACC tourney/NCAA 3/4th round, almost all Big East areans, all ACC arenas [including some of the old ones like NCSU], Spectrum/Wachovia for Nova/ NCAA tourneys, BE tourney, about half the A10, a few Big 10, some CAA, Meadowlands for tourneys and Jimmy V classic [with Duke, UNC, Indiana, Zaga, NCSU, Cal and others over the years.]

Overall, Palestra is loudest [and packed-in tight.]

But UNC beating their archrival and #1 Duke at the Dean Dome, with 21k screaming fans, was the loudest game I've been at. That place has gotten much louder for all games, esp big games, over the years. I haven't been to UNC at Duke, perhaps that's louder.

I hear Kentucky fans are truly and insanely loud, haven't been there. Many neutral observers, including several from SI and ESPN, give the Palestra as the best/loudest place to watch a game.
