Eddie Izzard as mentioned before is definitely in the top 3, he's a little strange but his material is so hilarious.

I've always been a huge George Carlin fan, but his latest HBO special showed me how much he is going off the deep end (he's always been close) It was very dark, all about death, and half of his joked were just morbid and not even comedic at all.

Chappelle is great, but hasn't done much recently, same with Chris Rock.

Robin Williams stand up is some of my favorite as well (btw...does he do coke or is he just that strung out all the time?)

David Cross is good. Bill Hicks is GOD.

Re-fixed the post.

However, the OP asked for active comedians. I offer Doug Stanhope.

I second Brian Regan. If you like Steve Martin you'll also like Brian Regan.

Also I can't stand Dane Cook and other homosexuals.

I'll add Steven Wright to some of the ones already mentioned.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've never seen Steven Wright, but I've read some of the quotes, which are quite funny. I especially like comedians whose jokes are one to three lines. Dane Cook like comedy where the stories are 20 minutes long sometimes get to be too much.

[/ QUOTE ]

You need to see him to get the full effect of the quotes. His deadpan delivery is wonderful. If anybody reminds me of him, it'd have to be Mitch Hedberg.

I would love to like Leary. However, he's a rip-off artist.
