I pay for my own. I'm sure my dad and grandpa would be happy to help me if I needed it, but for the time being I can afford it on my own with the help of poker. I would never want to ask for help though, unless I absolutely needed it.. As long as I'm buying myself expensive stuff all the time, I'll be paying my own way.

My Dad pays for it all. My Mom thinks I should pay for some of it with poker winnings, but she doesn't really know how much that is, and I just try to avoid the subject.
If I ever win a huge online tourney ($100,000+), I'm cashing out a check and a few thousand cash and flying to Zurich in a new Armani suit. She won't need to know about any of that either. |

I'm in the same boat as you BPS. However, since you got a fancy shmancy damn near (if not) full scholarship, and i'm working on a 25%/year one, I'm getting raped up the ass by loans as well. Then again, all your friends at school are rich mofo's with parents who are probably just willing to spend the money to get their spoiled ass kids out of their hair.
I'm cool with it though, considering if mom didn't spend the money on us to go to a private HS, we wouldn't have stood such a good chance of getting into good colleges. Woot for the local high school with less than an 80% grad rate, and a rate of like 30% of those going to college and actually making it through. |

Agreed. I go to UT in Austin and I notice this as well. I don't get much revenue for poker, but I work and pay for most of my school. My parents have paid for some (20%-25%) but I pay for the rest.
My roomate pays for his own school, he is 100% on his own. But most of the kids I know/meet, have their parents pay for school. I would say close to 75% of the people I know, their parents pay for a majority of their college. I love when people tell me: "I am waiting for my parents to put money into my bank account." |
