I push once with AAXX in a while just for the hell of it. Makes the game more fun.

title pretty much sums it up.... been playing a bit of NL o8, and run into a bunch of [censored] who just go all in with aces every time they get them. is there any hand i can call profitably against them?

i just want to break them repeatedly.

[/ QUOTE ]

Two points:

- Yes they are retards.

- No you can't call them. The advantage of this play (for you) is that they're weeding out their best hands. This means that the flops you end up seeing against these guys will (on average) be stacked more in your favor. You can also narrow their range considerably in certain spots.

So the money you make from these pushes will come from postflop situations. There's no way to profit from calling an AAxx pusher unless you have a better AAxx, or a a low connector in a mutliway pot.

Phil I generally respect your opinions, but if the following conditions are true:

-You have a weak AA
-You are in the blinds
-There have been multiple limpers

then is pushing not optimal? Even if you think it is slightly less than optimal, certainly its not "retarded", no?

I agree, it's far easier than guessing on the flop. I was mostly referring to this:

Although if played well, AA with weak side cards (say AA7K) is still a very profitable hand. At least in PL which is my main game. The preflop-to-river equity of a strong hand doesn't suddenly disappear because it rarely hits a pretty flop. You just have to pick your spots more skilfully.

I started playing Stars NL lately, and some of the calls you get after a preflop push are amazing. Anything that makes decent Sklansky Bucks can't be too retarded.

Best hand to call a high-only, ugly AAxx with? Of course it has no practical application, but still....

Interesting hand...it's not a dog to A2 either. And not far behind AA3H...

Yeh, except you're giving yourself a bit of an unfair edge by making the middle wrap double suited vs totally unsuited hands. Still, its' an interesting point; the hand is not nearly as bad if you go all-in with it as it is if you actually have to play it on every street. Its crippling weakness in actual play is its total lack of bettability under most circumstances.

Push your aces, reload before the flop, and count your Sklansky bucks without giving it another thought. The lower the limit the more profitable it is.
