I can't remember exactly where I read this, but I heard Target is just selling consoles. No games, controllers, etc.. Confirm/deny???

[/ QUOTE ]

does that make any sense to you?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. I was referring strictly to launch day, BTW. Like I said it was something I read. Was that a deny???

Assuming I can't get component cables at launch, can I still run my games in widescreen mode (to a 16:9 tv) with the composite cables?

not sure

also, there should be 3rd party component cables pretty much immediately

there will not be any better quality from nintendo components than 3rd party ones

while i'd never buy a 3rd party controller, i'll most likely end up buying 3rd party component cables...they are just wires after all

Some transmission lines are better than others, but in this case you are probably right.
I'm assuming this is analog (RGB) component video and not digital (YCbCr). For analog it could matter, but I doubt it.

Yes, I agree. And I'm fairly certain if there is a difference it wouldn't be discernable to the naked eye on a 100" screen. Some people get really nitty about A/V quality though. I was just pointing out one copper wire can be different from another. I'll be waiting to get the componnet cables until I see if they are much cheaper online in the next couple weeks.

You can also order the cables directly through Nintendo.com right now, for $30. Given that there are various rumors about the 3rd party availibility at launch, it might be the fastest way to get one. I have one on order, and since I might not get a Wii this Sunday as is, I'm not worried about waiting for a bit.

Meh, people had varied reports on AVSforum. Some people ordered and it was listed as backordered, but then had their order filled later that day. I don't mind taking the chance.

It looks like it will be a few weeks before I get one anyway, if there's going to be camping involved like the PS3. Ridiculous.
