Default ask Nicholasp27 about Nintendo Wii video game system

I haven't actually asked him if he wants to do this, but I was searching for info about the Wii and found some of his posts in OOT so it's pretty clear he would be.

I actually didn't know anything about the system until I went to Target the other day and saw all the accessories for it. Looking briefly at a couple sites it looks quite interesting. I was a nintendo and Super Nintendo guy and switched with the PS and PS2. I have only played whatever the Mario Kart game is for Game Cube and thought it was excellent.

Here are my questions:

1. How does the controller work? It looks like you can move it as part of the game, for example swing it in the living room as if you were hitting a tennis ball in the tennis game. Is it pretty smooth? Is it pretty sensitive to small movements? How easy is it to actually use? For example, in the tennis game if the ball is coming at me slowly, how likely would I be to just whiff it because of misusing the controller.

2. (ok so that was a looooong question) Have you used the system for any older system games? Backwards compatibility is a fair selling point for me given that I do like Nintendo games and have missed out on some good games the last couple generations.

1. From everything I've read the controller is really sensitive, which is a good thing as it doesn't require sweeping movements. This make it a little difficult to use at first, but after a while it becomes easier.

2. The wii is backwards compatible with all gamecube games. It even has a slot where you can plug in gamecube controllers. Also they are releasing a classic controller.

The point being you can dl NES/SNES/N64/Turbografx 16/Genesis games on to the wii's hard drive and play them with that controller

The Wii doesn't have a hard drive -- it uses SD cards for storage.

The remote also works like a 3D mouse, not like a pointing device (which many people seem to think). There is not a 1:1 correspondence with remote and on-screen movement (the sensitivity is actually adjustable).

No, but it has 512 MB internal memory which is where the old games are stored

I have never been in love with something so much.

Real Q, are there any games for it yet?

If you are in love with that controller how about the gun attachment for the wii remote

or the racing wheel attachment (to come free with GT Pro series)

There are no real games for the wii yet as it has yet to be released. But here is a list of confirmed launch titles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii#Con..._launch_titles the most notable being Legend of Zelda

Uhhh if that steering wheel doesnt actually attatch to anything it's going to be really annoying to "drive" for any reasonable amount of time

i read somewhere that there was going to be a FF title for Wii. is this true? if so, zelda + FF is way more than enough reason for me to buy one
