I would've C/R-ed the flop. If he calls you then, it becomes more easy to put him on a 6.

I would very often lead this flop, and hope that somebody wants to draw dead against me.

As played, turn c/r is good, you will get more money in before a scary big card (for villian) hits and scares off his mid/small pair, he might well even think A high is good or that he can catch an overcard.

River, meh, I call. You see a botched overpair often enough, IMO.

you think so? I'd say it helps you to narrow his range. I'd be quite happy to take the pot down right there. Also you almost always are a big favorite after that flop, so I prefer to get my money in.

Why do you care about narrowing his range on the flop? Why would you be happy to take the pot down right there? Im generally pretty pissed off when I get a flop like that and dont get any action. OPs goal in this hand should be to get as much money into the pot as soon as possible without driving out the villain.

I have no problems with the river call personally. I know its not saying much but I for one am not getting away from that hand barring some extraordinary read on the villain.

I hate to take away the legitimacy of your argument like this, vulturesrow, but I'm afraid I have to agree with you.

If, in your entire lifetime, you never put an opponent on quads, you wouldn't be far wrong. Playing ANY hand as though your opponent had four-of-a-kind will result in scared play, and scared play is bad play.

To OP: whoever said you were stupid for calling, make a note that they don't understand poker, and bluff into them relentlessly on scary boards.
