Hmm, my bank told me the opposite.
BTW, what exactly do these two paragraphs mean: [ QUOTE ] The Zero Liability policy covers all Visa credit and debit card transactions processed over the Visa network—online or off. The only transactions not covered under the Zero Liability policy are commercial card, ATM, and non-Visa-branded PIN transactions. For transactions on other networks, the liability decision is left to the financial institution that issued your card. The issuer has the option of extending the same protections afforded by Visa's Zero Liability policy. [/ QUOTE ] What is in the network and what is out of it? |

[/ QUOTE ] What is in the network and what is out of it? [/ QUOTE ] If you use your card on the internet or the phone it is almost certainly a Visa or MasterCard transaction. "PIN-less" card transactions on networks other than Visa & MasterCard are very rare and usually only occur with pre-authorized payments (utility, health club). |

didn't even take a day of OOT traffic for someone to demonstrate why you shouldnt use a debit card online. i hope spamuell gets this straightened out.
Messed up flight booking - please help me fraud is a huge part of not using debit card. the above example is another. shady businesses is a third. say you give a company your debit card number and then you realize the company is a company simply set up intended to rip people off. so you authorized the charge on your card but the company did not live up to it's bargain and. it is a heck of a lot easier not to be held liable for the debt and you will not have to pay any money as opposed losing actual money and having to fight to get it back. |

I applaud your bordering paranoia. We all need to be diligent on this stuff these days. But I think this one is safe.
