A Value Bet is a Continuation Bet but a Continuation Bet is not neccessarily a Value Bet.

I think for the sake of uniformity, any flop bet after raising preflop should be considered a Continuation Bet... as stated earlier, a continuation of agression. I think it may be important to call it a Continuation Bet too because you usually have a plan to make the bet before the flop even hits... and your going to make it regardless if you hit.

Yeah, what everyone else said. It's a continuation of aggression and whether or not you hit the flop is irrelevant (would you call it a bluff if you hit a FD, or SD, or gutshot, or overs, or runner-runner something?). It's just so much more accurate to describe any flop bet after a PFR a c-bet.

A continuation bet is a bet made after raising preflop.

You are continuing your betting. If you have AK and flop comes A89 and you bet after raising preflop, its a continuation bet in my books. Just as if the flop came down 239 and you made a bet after raising preflop.

Sometimes a continuation bet is a bluff, and sometimes it isn't. They are two seprate concepts IMO.
