Default Help me with a definition for SSNL

We're having a discrepancy in how we define a continuation bet.

Here's the question. Does continuation bet mean a bluff on the flop after raising preflop, or does it mean any bet on the flop after raising preflop?

I vote bluff. But alot of the n00bs around here lately are using it in the any bet sense.

I will frequently use it to mean any bet following raising preflop, but I think that it is probably more standard to use it solely to refer to a bluff.

I think it's any bet after a raise regardless of the flop because often you don't know if you're bluffing or not.

eg AK on 48T flop. is c-betting here a bluff or a bet with the best hand? no way of knowing, but it's definitely a c-bet. no?

I always used it to refer to any flop bet after a pfr.

a continuation of aggression, doesn't matter if its a bluff or not imo.

Um...I always thought it was any bet. You are "continuing" to bet either way right? Does it really matter what your cards are?

I use it to refer to any bet after raising/reraising preflop, I didn't know people used it otherwise.

yeah, it's the action that counts.....

with def. 1 you can't say that villain is c-betting because you don't know.... and what if you bet mp or bp... is that a c-bet eventhough it's not tp?

it makes wording much easier to use def 2

"villain c-bets"

vs.

"villain probably c-bets, but he also could be continuing his pf aggression with any piece of the board"
