Ithaca NY - I pay a hauler ($10-15/month) plus a trash tag for each bag, roughly $.75 each.

I dunno. I push the trash can out to the curb and they take it.

I assume it's a part of my property taxes.

No city pick up for me (smaller western wisconsin town, suburb of the twin cities) There's several options for trash pick up, I pay a smaller company $12/month and they pick it up from right next to my garage every Friday. Could pay only $8/month for curb pick up from the large WM company but then I'd have to remember to drag it down there every week.

Small worcester, ma suburb. I believe trash pickup is run by the town and funded by property taxes. I remember selling those Worcester Trash bags when I worked at Spag's and thought it was a screwjob. Those bags were so thin.

I know of a couple more affluent Massachusetts towns (Duxbury, and I think Weston) that do not have any trash pickup, just a town dump. Always funny to see those yuppies in their Beamers and Lexus's pawing through their own garbage like some sort of racoon.

Essex, England, UK.

All waste management is paid for via council tax fees. this amounts to around £1600/year here, which includes sewerage and trash management, plus sundry other things.

[ QUOTE ]
Combination of property taxes and our city requires us to purchase special city trash bags @ $1 apiece. Worcester, MA.

[/ QUOTE ]

The small ones are only 50 cents. The only problem with those is they rip easier than a wet paper bag.

Marlboro, NJ - pay choice of trash collection company directly.

Next town over - my inlaws have included into property taxes (but still get to choose who they want to collect it-weird)
