Curious: how do cheaters 'mark cards' in a live poker game...surely they've got something more sophisticated than crimping the edges, or something.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think so. I'm kind of amazed at the inattention. I posted a thread a couple of months back where I found a marked ace, and nobody thought anything unusual had occured. The advice given was to laugh it off, get a setup change, and pray that I can find the marked card in the next deck too...

Seems like his best play would be to become your friend then.

I doubt the extra .5BB/hr is worth it.

It's possible to make 1.5 bets/hr at 75/150 stud in most rooms that spread it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I believe this is true, but it requires A) expert play, B) an extremely large bankroll to resist LONG bad streaks and C) near immunity to tilt or bad runs affecting your play.

This may seems obvious, but B and C are what kills many at these limits against the type of competition that can drive you nuts in a downturn.

A and C no doubt, but shouldn't B be less of a factor for a 1.5 bb/hr type player? Or do you just mean a 75/150 stud player in general needs a huge roll?

Abraham Gray was one of the few honest men among the pirates in Treasure Island. Sad to see him fall to marking cards.

[/ QUOTE ]

I heard he just had a clump of dirt on his hand that he was unaware of. In between the first and second hand he was questioned about it and voluntarily went to the bathroom and washed it off.

Then the gaming commission gestapo came and examined his hand later and found a brown smudge on his left palm. He claims it was nothing more than residue left over from spit and rosen and dirt that he didn't realize was there in the first place.

The gaming commission showed the table pics of his last two prior games that also proved he had the same brown smudge on his palm, which could of been used to mark the cards.

The dealer said he had won 24 straight hands at the river, which he found amazingly lucky.
